Middle School IMPACT focuses on personal safety, self-confidence, assertiveness in dating relationships, peer pressure, and managing increasing independence. For pre-teens and early teens, this course offers students the opportunity to practice appropriately asserting themselves and asking for what they need in situations where they feel uncomfortable. They also receive training on assessing situations for danger, and learn how to defend themselves physically and verbally if necessary. They have the opportunity to customize a scenario that reflects a source of anxiety in their own life.
KidSAFE
Location: IMPACT Training Center, Malden, MA

KidSAFE focuses on personal safety, bullying and peer pressure, and stranger danger. This course teaches children ages 7-9 to call attention to threatening situations, distinguish between safe and unsafe adults, physically and verbally protect themselves, and report potential danger to a safe adult. In a safe supportive environment, students learn to stay calm and focused while practicing effective communication and appropriate safety making decisions in realistic situations that range from intimidating to dangerous.
